Este dezamagitor cand, intr-un trailer despre un rpg, auzim doar ca au fost introduse noi arme, noi rase de extraterestrii si va avea grafica mai buna... Iar faza, cum ca alegerile facute in primul il vor influenta pe al doilea, are cineva idee cum functioneaza?

Totusi, eu cred in BioWare, sa speram ca nu vor dezamagi.

The chaps over at VG247 have posted some info about Mass Effect 2 that supposedly leaked out from the next OXM by some blokes on NeoGAF.

- You will play as Shepard, but for how long is unknown
- There is a new species called the Drell and Thane is a new character who is an assassin and may join your party
- Planets - There will be a Krogan planet, and Illium, an Asari planet, that is like Coruscant from SW. Also there is 'Omega'with is like an anti-Citadel in that it’s huge and it’s the bottom of the barrel whereas the Citadel is the height of civilization. Also a Cerebus mothership will act as a location of significance.
- Story - The ultimate story is still civilization fending off the Reapers, but this chapter will deal with this Cerebus corporation and it’s enigmatic leader. There are human civilizations disappearing and it’s up to Shepard to investigate, it’s termed as a 'suicide mission' which may lead to the details of the teaser.
- New vehicle that controls better than the Mako…a 'new' control scheme.
- Totally revamped inventory system
- Elevator system revamped where you will get the sense of scope of where you’re at and where you’re traveling.
- No more texture pop in.
- Secondary races like Volus and Elcor are much more mobile, giving more depth and makes things more interesting.
- Choices are more meaningful and there is a real risk that major support characters (i.e. anyone not Shepard) can and will die.
- Also on the story, they’re super-hyping the ending, saying that it’s much more grand meaningful in ME2.
- More weapons, more species, more/new team members.
- Returning team members, locations, weapons.

Both IGN and GameSpot has published their E3 impressions of Mass Effect 2. Here's a bit:

The last scene that we got to see was the most powerful, and impressed upon us just how deadly Shepard's new mission is. The Normandy, Mass Effect's home vessel, was under attack. Shepard ran through the fiery corridors as the camera cut away to show the craft smoking and flaming (and, eventually, breaking in two). Shepard and his companion made it to the escape pods, but our protagonist had additional priorities. He climbed stairs to an exposed deck. The sound muffled, and we heard his heart beating loudly from the speakers. We watched him approach Joker, still seated in his navigation seat, unwilling to desert the Normandy. Shepard lifted Joker, but the exploding Normandy propelled them into space. This choice had disastrous consequences for Shepard: The soundtrack slowed, and we watched him float through space, apparently doomed to be simple space debris. BioWare confirmed that your choices can lead to Shepard's death, which drove the "suicide" part of "suicide mission" home.

Mass Effect 2 is a visual stunner. The city vistas that showed the sun filtering through the building are awe inspiring. The cinematic cutscenes are better than ever. And, best of all, I didn't notice a single bit of slowdown or texture load issues through the entire live demo. From what I saw, there is no reason to believe that this sequel won't surpass the original in just about every way.

In addition, here's the extended Mass Effect 2 trailer--previously teased--contains both combat and startling story from the action RPG sequel, due to hit PC and Xbox 360 early in 2010.

BioWare a oferit noi informaţii despre RPG-ul Mass Effect 2, producătorul executiv Casey Hudson descriind mai în detaliu câteva din elementele prezentate prin intermediul unui demo la E3 Expo 2009:

* misiunea “sinucigaşă” de la sfârşitul jocului se poate încheia cu moartea tuturor personajelor (nu doar a lui Shepard), cu moartea unora dintre ele sau cu toţi membrii echipei supravieţuind (personajele care mor în Mass Effect 2 nu vor mai apărea în Mass Effect 3);
* deciziile luate de jucători în Mass Effect vor afecta întreaga experienţa de joc din Mass Effect 2 pentru cei care vor alege să joace pe baza unei salvări din primul joc;
* armele vor avea în continuare muniţie nelimitată, dar în loc de a aştepta ca o armă să se răcească după o perioadă de tir continuu, jucătorii vor putea activa o funcţie specială care elimină instantaneu o parte din căldura acumulată;
* în timpul dialogurilor vor apărea în anumite puncte ale conversaţiei icon-uri ce indică posibilitatea de a întrerupe dialogul în mod ostil (icon roşu) sau eroic (icon albastru);
* opţiunea de a pune pauză în timpul luptei va fi prezentă şi în Mass Effect 2, dar lupta în timp real va fi facilitată mulţumită posibilităţii de a activa puterile speciale prin hot keys configurabile;
* perioadele lungi de aşteptare în lifturi au fost eliminate, BioWare introducând un nou mod de încărcare a zonelor din joc.
