| Kojima Disappointed With Metal Gear Solid 4 Looks like Kojima Jr. isn't the only one disappointed with Metal Gear Solid. The latest issue of the UK's Edge magazine contains an interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who expresses disappointment with the latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It isn't so much the gameplay itself as it is the graphics. "Game-wise, it's pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly. But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction. Now Kojima is a well-known perfectionist, but it is a bit disturbing to see him voice his dissatisfaction with what is supposed to be the masterpiece of the franchise. So where does he lay the blame for not fully realizing his vision? "When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one step, which isn't to say we didn't progress. So there was certainly progress made, but not enough progress...or more specifically, not enough power for progress. Apparently the team overestimated what the PlayStation 3 was capable of. I remember saying three years ago that we wanted to create something revolutionary, but in reality we couldn't really do that because of the CPU. We're using the Cell engine to its limit., actually. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the PS3 machine, it's just that we weren't really aware of what the full-spec PS3 offered - we were creating something we couldn't entirely see. Well there you have it, straight from the man himself. Metal Gear Solid 4 is not revolutionary. Personally I think the man is being a bit hard on himself, but that's what great minds do. Check out the latest issue of Edge for the full story, as well as a 6/10 Mario Kart Wii review. Eep. Thanks to mescalineeyes for the scan and the info! | |||

| Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset Features When we first heard about this new Metal Gear Bluetooth v2.0 headset, much to our disappointment, it was starting to look like another evil internet rumor (hello, I'm still waiting for my million dollar check, Bill Gates). Well, turns out that it's very real and Metal Gear Solid fans all over the interweb are positively creaming their pants over it. With features like a 30-foot range, auto shut off, auto sync and a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery that has eight hours of talk time and 160 hours of standby, they have good reason to be. This headset by video game peripheral manufacturer Performance Designed Products is modeled after Snake's new "Solid Eye" reconnaissance bot. It's got a silicone loop and over-ear foam speaker cover for extended comfort during long smack talking sessions. It's licensed for MGS4 but it will work with all PS3 games as well as your Bluetooth cell phone so you can look like a badass mercenary special op anywhere you go. It can be yours on June 12th, coinciding with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, for $59.99. ps: da, sunt un foarte mare fanboy De asta pun la ambele console link-uri catre stiri si bune si rele.

@Bobby: Over the past few days we've been a bit confused as to the legitimacy of the Metal Gear Solid 4 bluetooth headset. We noted that the marketing sheet displayed three units, but talked about only one. We had noticed that the dimensional conversions from CM to inches were quite off. And we noticed an unusual, but perhaps intentional similarity, to a Metal Gear MK II mech. Well, I guess it's time to cast doubts aside, as the headset now has a listing on GameStop/EB Games, and the manufacturer is indeed Performance Designed Products. According to GameStop, the release date will actually be June 9th, and not the 12th as has been reported earlier. The price is, indeed, $60 and the product is licensed by Konami. Unfortunately, there is no image posted on the GameSpot pre-order page, so we're still not quite sure what the thing actually looks like, considering that we've seen three different headsets on the sheet, and they looked more like mock-up renderings than the actual product. We'll keep you posted. http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2932.html
