Raspunsul AMD/ATI la cumpararea Ageia de catre nVidia (si a integrarii fizicii in drivere prin intermediul CUDA): AMD continua suportul si dezvoltarea fizicii cu Havok.

AMD (NYSE: AMD) and Havok today announced plans to jointly investigate the optimization of physics effects utilizing AMD's full line of products.

As part of the collaboration, Havok and AMD plan to further optimize the full range of Havok technologies on AMD x86 superscalar processors. The two companies will also investigate the use of AMD's massively parallel ATI Radeon GPUs to manage appropriate aspects of physical world simulation in the future.

Nu numai cei care "sunt cu AMD" ar trebui sa astepte o minune, ci toata lumea. Daca AMD scoate procesoare puternice si ieftine, Intel va trebui sa coboare preturile; vezi ce s-a intamplat cu GTX280 dupa ce-a aparut HD4870.
In schimb daca AMD nu vor reusi sa fie competitivi, Intel poate sa ceara oricat vrea pe un procesor.

In primul rand Super-Pi merge oricum mai bine pe Intel, in al doilea rand nu prea reflecta performanta in alte aplicatii (e.g: jocuri).
