Ce meci pe Emirates...simpatic Gradinescu - 'e unul din momentele cand diavolul se uita la fotbl si ii place ce vede'. Pentru a mia oara cand arata Arsenalul cat de buni dar si cat de necopti sunt. Era livid Wenger la final.

RAFA: KUYT CAN BE OUR DERBY HERO

Rafael Benitez believes that Dirk Kuyt can be an inspiration again for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds number 18 was the hero for Liverpool in last season's Goodison Park derby when he scored two penalties, and the boss said there is no reason why he can't score again on Saturday.

"With Kuyt, you know he can always score goals," said Benitez.

"He proved when we played Everton at Goodison last season that he can handle the pressure that comes when you have big moments in big games and I am sure he can do that again.

"He has a habit of scoring important goals at important times. If you look at his record in the Champions League it is very good, and it was only last month that he scored the late goal which allowed us to beat Standard Liege.

"That goal was a reward for the effort he put in on that night and I am sure if he continues to work as hard as he does then his rewards will come again."

The referee for the 208th Merseyside derby is Mike Riley who was in the spotlight during last weekend's clash between Chelsea and Manchester United.

"I don't like to talk too much about referees," added Rafa. "But I have confidence that he has enough experience to understand this game and I think he will be okay."

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan has revealed that Manchester United's players were surprised with Saturday's penalty decision, and some even pleaded with the referee not to award it - including Cristiano Ronaldo...

Saturday's Premier League clash at Old Trafford was turned on the 60th minute decision to award Cristiano Ronaldo a penalty after a seemingly legal challenge by Jlloyd Samuel.

Referee Rob Styles took his time over the decision and pointed to the spot to the astonishment of just about every player on the pitch.

Bolton have since rued the decision, which they feel destroyed a previous hour of good solid work in which they stifled their hosts.

Their skipper Kevin Nolan has now revealed that his Manchester United counterparts were in agreement with the Bolton players in believing the penalty call was wrong.

Amazingly, he stated that certain individuals, including the recipient of the tackle, Ronaldo, told the referee he made an erroneous call.

Nolan told the Times: "Ronaldo was on the floor saying, 'I didn’t want a penalty!'. I don’t think one of them put their hands up asking for a penalty. [Darren] Fletcher’s going, 'It’s not a penalty', [Carlos] Tevez is going, 'It’s not a penalty'.

"Twenty players who were in the box at the time knew it wasn’t a penalty. But the man who was in black had the final say. They couldn’t believe their luck. But you’re at United and unfortunately that happens.

"It does strike fear into you when you look at this magnificent stadium. Maybe that’s what’s happened to the referee. He said he thought Jlloyd took Ronaldo before the ball. It didn’t make sense to me at all."

The referee in question has reportedly forwarded an e-mail to Bolton regretting his decision to award the spot-kick.

Era situatia prea infecta pentru astfel de gesturi, si astfel de decizii nu le poate lua decat Fergie, iar reactia lui dupa meci a fost ceva de genul: "Intr-adevar nu a fost penalty, insa Rob Styles a gresit grav in defavoarea noastra de vreo 5 ori in trecut, asa ca-mi mai datoreaza 4"
