How many chinese know what a patent is? 1 in a hundred, 1 in a thousand? Does it matter (for them, of course)?
You try to escape the fact that 1,2 BILLION people do not invent/innovate almoust anything, paper and fireworks are not an argument anymore. Try this century or millenium.

Ok, let's say you are right. But then, why there are not so many great products designed in China and manufactured in San Francisco :P, especially when you have so many start-ups, 1,2 BILLION people and of course, when "this fable can not stand careful examination based on facts", "a greatest fable and lie in the west media beeing that you need political freedom and democracy in order to have innovation."
