But the remnants of the civilization gradually become just memories, spin with stories and turn into legends.

The VDNH is the extremely populated northern metro station. It is the northern outpost of humanity and civilization. Here live some hundred of strong, friendly people, who treat the station as their sweet home. It was one of the best in metro while it was safe. But now the station is attacked by hordes of mysterious animals, descending from the top, named “DARKENS” by the citizens of VDNH. The citizens, for the moment, succeed in countering the offence, but it becomes more and more difficult. If the station is seized, the darken avalanche may overflow the whole metro.
Artem, a young guy, who lives in VDNH, is given a task – to reach the heart of the metro, the legendary Polis, in order to warn all people about the terrible danger and to ask for help. In hands of one man appears the destiny of VDNH, the destiny of the whole metro, and may be, the destiny of the whole humanity…

We’ve been following this Ukrainian shooter since the first footage appeared a couple of years ago. Metro 2033 appears to be what THQ did after the split with GSC, and it has the same dark-future apocalypse vibes as Stalker. This time it’s set in a Moscow ravaged by monsters, with the survivors of the apocalypse hiding in the Russian capital’s epic metro system. It’s got a strong “Russian Fallout” whiff to it, which echoes what a 1c boss said to me last year about their love of the game. THQ’s blurb reads: “You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Dupa titlu, nu pare afi un open world, mai degraba ceva de genu Criostasis, oricum rusii se pricep la jocuri cu atmosfera postapocaliptica, sunt din fire mistici, ti-o spun sigur

Metro 2033 Trailer e trailerul din 2006 facut cand era in stadiul de alpha, deci te gandesti ca se lucreaza la el de mai bine de 3-4 ani. Putea cred sa fie lansat odata cu primul stalker dar ma gandesc ca l-au amanat.

About Dmitry Glukhovsky

Dmitry Glukhovsky, (born 12th June 1979) is a Russian author and journalist.

Glukhovsky’s first novel, Metro 2033, was originally made freely available via his own website in 2002 and quickly became a cult classic, attracting thousands of readers. A publishing deal followed, and Metro 2033 was eventually released in hard copy in 2005. It has since sold 450,000 copies in Russia, whilst online readers have topped 2 million. The rights have been sold to more than 20 countries, including Germany where the book has already been released to critical acclaim; and the UK, where it goes on sale later this year. Metro 2033 the game has been in development at 4A Games for just over two years, and the film rights are currently in negotiation with a number of Hollywood studios.

As a journalist, Dmitry Glukhovsky has worked for EuroNews TV in France, Deutsche Welle, and the Russian Television station, RTtv. He writes columns for Harper’s Bazaar, l’Officiel and Playboy.

Glukhovsky has lived in Israel, Germany and France and speaks English, French, German, Hebrew and Spanish apart of his native Russian.

Wow, trailerul din 2006 e foarte foarte reusit, nu stiu cum de l-am scapat. Daca jocul va avea atmosfera aia va fi probabil cel mai atmosferic joc pe care voi fi pus mana . Cam asa ar trebui sa fie orice joc postapocaliptic, cu adevarat necrutator. Si o sa il joc in rusa sigur, contribuie foarte mult la atmosfera. Sper sa aibe subtitrari.

da, pare chiar intersant, acum sa vedem ce o sa iasa...

Tin sa spun ca jocul asta in 2006 arata de 2 ori mai bine decat arata primul STALKER (nivelul detaliilor si peisajele cel putin).

Eu sper ca nu o sa copieze Fallout 3 (doamne, pentru fanii avizi FPS Fallout 3 este chiar... Boring - cel putin pentru mine) cu sistemul ala de ochire automat...

Dar oricum, sfarsitul trailerului imi aduce aminte de parasirea "The Vault" din Fallout 1

Sa vedem ce-o sa iasa Until then, we have STALKER!

Cred ca acest joc este adevaratul stalker in carne si oase .celalalt a fost mai degraba menit sa ofere spatiu de cautari, experimente, ambitii neimplinite etc, echipei de productie ,aflata la inceputul carierei de proiect digital open/world.

Nu. Stalker e Stalker. E un joc bazat pe carte si film. Stalker nu s-a nascut din cauza unei nascociri. Are ceva radacini sa zic asa. Aaa, ca Stalker a adus experienta companiei si au invatat din ce in ce mai multe pentru a face un Metro superb, probabil ca da.
