In Europe, getting tanned means healthy, athletic, and rich. Only rich people can spend a lot of time in vacation to get tanned.

In China and probably other East Asian countries too, getting tanned means that you are poor. This is because rich people stay inside of the house and poor people work under the sunshine. That is why people don't like to get tanned.

This culture difference is probably generated from climate difference. Most part of China is warmer than Europe. In European paintings of the 19th century, for example, in Renoir's oil painting, European women also hold umbrellas in a sunny day. I wonder if Europeans have changed their esthetic value during last century.

China celebrated 60 year anniversary of People's Republic of China (Communist took over China) yesterday. The celebration was made with a massive parade of 2.5 hour in Beijing. Here are a few segments of the high-definition videos from the parade. You must view them directly from youtube website to get HD quality by double clicking the embedded videos in the followings. You can view them with full screen mode, because the resolution is very high (720HD).

Marching Solders

Amored Vehicles and Battle Tanks

Missile Force

Air Force

Mass parade and 34 floats, each float represents a province.

I think that China wastes too much money on this kind of parade.

China a facut o treaba foarte buna in ultimii ani, are ce sarbatori!

It could be true. China is a developing country and has population more than twice of Europe. Any bad thing can happen in China. China's government does have strict rules for food processing, but some individuals and small businesses, especially those from underdeveloped areas, do not necessarily obey the rules. The government's law enforcement is also insufficient. However, if someone's illegal practice causes scandals, like causing death or sickness of some people, he will have to face death penalty.

In China today, the life of most original city dwellers is not too bad, but life for most new immigrants from rural areas is still very hard.

China's development is inhomogeneous and unbalanced. In China, you can find many things with modernities that are even rarely seen in developed countries and you can also find some people living in a life being not much different from a couple of centuries ago.

Si ce sa faca in China?
